Why use belt filters?

A belt filter is a fully automatic pressureless filtration system used to separate solids from liquids. Contaminated liquid can flow over the filter paper under gravity or through a pump.. The AXO Filtertechniek belt filters have an integrated pump connected to level sensors to empty the tank with the filtered liquid. Belt filters are widely used for filtering coolants, oils, wastewater, and to re-use water for horticulture applications.

The AXO FIltertechniek belt filters can handle a heavy dirt load, are virtually maintenance-free, and automatically ensure a clean filter paper, meaning no operators are required to operate the system.

AXO Filtertechniek offers a wide range of filter papers and can help you choose the one most suitable for your application. We also offer the option to rent our belt filters. If you would like personal advice or more information, please contact us.

Test the belt filter system before a potential purchase

We offer our customers the opportunity to test the operation of the belt filter system and the various filter papers through a rental period. For this purpose, the EVOTECH 500 in stainless steel 316L version is available. This model can handle a flow rate of 80 L/min. We can apply filter paper with a length of 200m. Renting a belt filter offers the opportunity to experience its operation and benefits firsthand, making a future investment a well-considered step.

Belt filters in combination with oil skimmers

Oil skimmers are designed to clean liquids contaminated with oil. For metal working processes, maintaining coolants and lubricants is of great importance. A coolant lubricant provides tool lubrication, heat dissipation, and protection against corrosion.

The belt filter ensures that all solid particles are filtered out of a liquid. By combining a belt filter with an oil skimmer, contaminants such as grease and tramp oil are immediately removed from the liquid.

In the metalworking industry, this combination is widely used to extend the service life of coolant lubricants and thereby reduce costs.

Belt filter advantages

  • Fully automatic filtration system (mobile option possible)
  • Stainless steel version possible including integrated magnetic filter
  • Low maintenance cost
  • Low energy consumption
  • Simple installation, plug-and-play
  • Filtration degrees from 10 to 200 micron can be used in the same unit
  • Rental units available

Belt filter working principle

  1. Contaminated liquid is distributed over a filter paper (1) via the distribution plate (2).
  2. The contamination remains on the filter paper and creates a filter cake.
  3. The filtered liquid flow passes through the filter paper and is collected in the buffer tank (8).
  4. The return pump (9) is activated by level switches, causing the filtered liquid to be pumped to the desired location.
  5. As soon as the filter paper becomes saturated, it is rolled up by means of a winding mechanism (6) and simultaneously scraped clean (5).
  6. The scraped-off material is collected in a mobile container (7).
  7. At the same time, a new section of filter paper automatically moves underneath the distribution plate and the process starts again from the beginning.

The hydrostatic pressure ensures that the filter paper filters more efficiently and less filter material is consumed, resulting in significant cost savings.

In addition to the EVO belt filters, we also offer deep-bed filters such as the EvoPro. All belt filters can be supplied in stainless steel versions and can be equipped with an integrated magnetic filter to minimize filter consumption.

The magnetic filters can also be used as stand-alone units.

Alternatives for belt filters

 FILTERHOUSING:

Filter housings are closed systems where a filter medium is placed in, such as a bag filter or cartridge filter. Liquids are pumped through the filter housing where solids are filtered by the filter medium. Filter housings take up limited space, but can handle large flow rates. A floor space of 40x40 cm is sufficient for one filter housing to filter 40 m³/h. By connecting filter housings, a filtration system for very large flow rates is created.

For different industries, filter housings can be customized as desired. AXO Filtertechniek supplies filter housings in various materials, configurations, pressure classes, ATEX zones and with different connections.  MAGNETIC FILTER:

Belt filters and filter housings use a filter medium to filter liquids. For liquids contaminated with iron-containing particles, magnetic filters can be an excellent alternative. AXO Filtertechniek offers various types of magnetic filters. An example is our Magno-Multi-Unit, which is equipped with multiple magnetic cores in a single filter housing.

The magnetic cores are easily cleaned and have a combined collection capacity of no less than 181 kg!

We also offer the option to equip our belt filters with a magnetic pre-filter. This drastically reduces filter cloth consumption and therefore the associated replacement costs.
