Why use oil mist filers?

Oil mist, oil smoke, vapors, and steam often arise from machine tools and pose a health risk to the people working in the surrounding area.

In addition to the health risks, this fine oil mist also settles in air ducts and floors and stairways, creating dangerously slippery surfaces and possible fire hazards. Fine oil mist can also settle on electronic components, causing downtime and equipment failures.

The KUBE oil mist filter prevents these risks and minimizes maintenance through our smart multi-stage filtration design.

Oil mist, oil smoke and burned particles during production processes

Just as welding fumes are generated during welding and cutting operations, and inhaling these fumes can pose a direct risk to the health of the operators and surrounding personnel, the same applies when working with metalworking fluids. These fluids are used to lubricate and cool tools, machines, and products.

Metalworking fluids ensure that the tools used to process products do not overheat, ensure production quality and remove chips and swarf. Due to the pressure with which coolants are sprayed onto the product and the high speeds at which the tools rotate, oil mist and oil smoke is generated. Examples include drilling and milling operations.

These extremely fine oil droplets become airborne and can cause significant damage to machinery, as well as negative effects on the health and productivity of employees. The deposition of oil in air ducts and on floors and stairways can even create hazardous situations, including fire risks.

During metalworking processes, very high temperatures can occur, causing the oil, coolant emulsion, and/or the product itself to overheat. As a result, not only oil mist is released, but also vapors and smoke particles.

Health risks

If oil mist and smoke from machine tools are not filtered out, it can pose various risks. Apart from the fact that oil mist can cause a range of  health problems, it can also cause problems to machines tools, become a fire hazard and promote the growth of bacteria and fungi.

Inhaling oil mist and smoke particles can lead to respiratory complaints affecting the throat, nose, and lungs. Particles settling on the skin can cause persistent itching and rashes. In the long term, these particles may even be carcinogenic.

Industrial filtration of oil mist, oil smoke and burned particles

The KUBE oil mist filters can filter out particles as fine as 0,3 microns out of an airflow and return clean air directly back into the production hall. Oil and liquid is returned back to the machine via the oil return hose or collected separately.
The filtered air is returned to the factory hall. Because there is no need to vent the air outside of the building the KUBE filters have a positive effect on heating costs.

Oil, liquid and solid particles are filtered out of the air stream by the multi-stage filtration system. A filter indicator shows when the replacement filter is becoming saturated.

A simple solution to keep your production areas clean and safe. Employees and machines will no longer be affected by harmful oil mist particles. This also helps companies comply with the latest occupational health and safety requirements. If you would like personal advice or more information, please contact us.

Check out our MICROIL oil mist filters

With the MICROIL air filter, the oil mist and smoke from machining tools is extracted and filtered out of the air stream. MICROIL prevents oil mist and oil smoke from being inhaled, prevents allergic reactions from oil mist and pollution of the workspace. Sticky floors and windows are a thing of the past.

After the oil mist has been filtered from the air, a secondary filtration step follows with the built-in smoke filter to remove fine metal particles and smoke from the air flow. All the captured oil is collected separately via the return hose.

The biggest advantage of the MICROIL filter system is its ease of maintenance. Only the smoke filter needs to be replaced. Without tools, with a simple click system, the replacement is done in just a few minutes!
